Apple Inc. was founded on 1 April 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, and is headquartered in Cupertino, California. Its software is built around its own hardware: macOS and iOS, the Safari browser, and the App Store that governs what can be installed on iPhone and iPad. That tight coupling is the trade-off, since most Apple software runs only on Apple devices.
