Avast is a Czech security company whose origins date back to 1988, when its founders released an early antivirus tool. It became one of the most widely used free antivirus products in the world. Avast also offers VPN, cleanup, and privacy tools. The company merged with NortonLifeLock to form Gen Digital in 2022.
