LastPass is a cloud-based password manager founded in 2008 by four developers, acquired by LogMeIn for 110 million dollars in 2015, and spun back out as an independent company in 2024 under private equity ownership. It runs a freemium model from Boston, Massachusetts. The company suffered a series of security incidents between 2011 and 2022, including a 2022 breach in which encrypted customer vaults were stolen.
