ShareX Team

ShareX is a free and open-source screen capture, screen recording and file sharing tool for Windows, maintained by a community team on GitHub. It began in 2007 as ZScreen, was rewritten from scratch as ZUploader in 2010, and was repackaged under the ShareX name in 2012. Released under the GPLv3, it has no paid tier and bundles no third-party software in its installer.

Greenshot is a free and open-source screenshot tool for Windows, started in 2007 by Thomas Braun and developed since with Jens Klingen and Robin Krom. It captures regions, windows or full screens and includes an editor for annotating and obfuscating sensitive areas before export. The Windows build is GPL-licensed and funded by donations; the macOS version is proprietary and sold through the App Store.
