Bitwarden is an open-source password manager founded in 2016 by software architect Kyle Spearrin and run today by Bitwarden Inc. from Santa Barbara, California. Its free tier covers unlimited passwords across unlimited devices, which is unusual in a category where most rivals cap one or the other. The clients are GPL-licensed and the server AGPL, though some modules remain proprietary.
